Landscape Construction

Design is sexy. A client flips through glossy pages and pictures gaining inspiration, meets with a designer and begins to explain the dream. The educated designer gains understanding of the client’s desires, the site’s specific character, and then works to produce a vision. The client approves, and delighted by the designer’s drawings, requests a bid. Once the bid is signed, the so called “dirty work” begins. Few people see construction as an exciting point on the pathway to a new landscape. But at Perfect Lawns & Landworks of Austin we know that this is one of the most important aspects of the journey. No matter how great the vision, a garden design will never become a beautiful reality if the construction is poorly executed.

Rudy's Fireplace Rudy's Fireplace We begin this process by conducting a walkthrough attended by the homeowner, salesperson, designer, and construction supervisor. During this event the homeowner and designer review the design with the supervisor to make sure he fully understands the vision. Before ground is broken, all the underground utilities are marked to insure the safety of the homeowner and all the workers. Safety is upmost on our minds as we prepare for and work to complete the project. Many neighborhoods have regulations regarding where trucks can be parked, the hours during which construction may take place, and where materials may be stored. We try to make sure to not infringe on the neighbors and monitor our noise levels, worker behavior, and potential traffic disruptions on public right of ways.

As the design vision unfolds into a reality, the designer will periodically review the quality of the work and make sure the project is being built according to the vision. He/she will also check in with the homeowner and answer any questions they might have. During project construction, the crew leader will be on site the majority of the time directing the work of Perfect Lawns & Landworks of Austin’s seasoned landscape professionals. The project manager will also stop in frequently to monitor the progress.

Consistency, schedule adherence, and quality control are essential to the mission of Perfect Lawns & Landworks of Austin. After over 20 years in business, we are proud of our track record regarding these metrics. We work closely with the client to make sure the highest quality materials are chosen and our plants come from the finest nurseries in Texas. Sometimes certain elements of the project require us to hire a subcontractor. These companies are chosen not only for their high level of expertise, but also for their partnering values and work ethic. They too will be fully insured, as should be standard, but is usually is not in most landscape and maintenance companies. As the project is built and develops, the client will have questions and concerns. Perfect Lawns & Landworks of Austin encourages our clients to ask questions. We believe that the process is a collaborative one and it is not unusual that something unforeseen occurs, details change, and additions evolve that will require input from the client and designer. Design is a process that continues even as the driveway is being swept off and the joyful homeowner is entertaining visions of candle lit dinner parties set right in their own resort style garden. We strive to maintain the integrity of the design despite any unforeseen changes.

Once the job is completed, a final walkthrough takes place with the client, designer, and site supervisor. Instructions for the care of the new outdoor elements are given and usually a no obligation maintenance bid is arranged. We will of course continue to provide our high quality customer service as we care for your garden as it matures. Our maintenance team will work to ensure that you can continue to relax in your well maintained oasis for many years to come.
